Welcome to the ZEGG Community!

Summer Guest Season Starts

GartenOn May 13 we started our programme for "summer guests". The season started well and we have already hosted many willing helpers from Germany and abroad. Every summer we offer the chance to stay for a while in ZEGG and contribute by working in the kitchen, garden or guest house.

Work with our site team or on our building sites is also possible for those with appropriate interests. The summer weeks see us harvesting fruit and vegetables together for the communal kitchen and conserving them or freezing them for the winter. We also turn seasonal produce into delicious jams, fruit spreads, pesto and chutneys.
We meet in the morning for an attunement and work assignment. Summer guests work about five hours per day from Monday to Saturday. After work there is a group meeting providing a chance to get to know each other and ZEGG. And summer guests can also take part in other open events on-site.
Summer guests are asked to arrive on Sundays (we can be flexible for those travelling from afar).  For those visiting ZEGG for the first time, we ask you to arrive in time to take part in the regular guided tour of our site at 4pm (meeting point at the 'village pub' - Dorfkneipe). You are asked to stay for at least one full week.

Check-in: Sunday, from 5:30pm in the guest house (Gästehaus)

Evening meal at 6:30om; First group meeting at 7:30pm

Price: €56 board & lodging per week

It is a time to meet up with friends, make new contacts, gain advice from each other and have fun together. An ‘Open Space’ allowed exciting issues to be discussed, including the idea of a ‘Power of Feelings’ festival and new ideas for transforming the economy in ZEGG.

A step towards ZERO EMISSION

The ZEGG community has done one more step towards a complete energy supply from renewable sources. Since December the combined heat and power plants run with the wind gas tariff from Greenpeace Energy. This tariff supports the development of wind gas technology - produced by wind energy that cannot be fed into the grid – and thus could become an innovative and sustainable form of gas generation. Since 1991 the ZEGG owned cogeneration plant has been operating with wood chips. In 2010 heating was improved by installing a modern wood chip boiler, a log boiler and an exhaust gas heat exchanger. The devices will switch off and on automatically as needed. Four...
